Local ceramicist and metalsmith Linore Huss has always been adventurous and creative. She loves to explore new mediums, and the world around her is always an opportunity to find new shapes and textures. Linore encourages her students to show creativity in every process, and loves when they teach her something new as they come in with open eyes and minds.
Linore graduated with a BFA in Metalsmithing and Ceramics in 2018 and has since spent time as the Head of Metals and Glass at Camp Matoaka in Maine, Metals Studio Assistant at Arrowmont, the Program Manager and then Director at The Inventor Center, and a ceramics and jewelry teacher for kids and adults in the Tri-Cities area.

My personal work focuses on current social issues, either as an underlying theme or a specific topic. One of the main problems in our world is a lack of communication, tolerance, and understanding. My goal is to spark conversations that will open the viewer's mind to different perspectives. These pieces come from a mixture of personal feelings and experiences as well as conversations that I've had with other people. Art, especially wearable art, has a special ability to stick in the viewer’s mind, encouraging reflection and change. Jewelry is unique because it can stay on the body as a constant reminder of the social norms and pressure that we carry with us every day.
